Buyer's guide

Email apps that run on Cloudflare Workers

Cloudflare Email Routing receives and Email Sending sends, but neither gives you an inbox. These open-source projects and MarkRelay do, inside your own Cloudflare account.

Facts checked

The short answer

More than twenty projects now turn Cloudflare Email Routing and Email Sending into something you can use, almost all of them free and open source. For a team webmail, look at Mailflare, cloud-mail, HQBase and OmniMail; Cloudflare's own agentic-inbox suits one person who wants a built-in AI assistant. For a sending API, EmailFlare and MailySend; for newsletters, Ownlist and Kōlea; for agent inboxes, DearAgent; for help desks, ResolveHQ and saasmail; for disposable addresses, cloudflare_temp_email, MoeMail and vmail. MarkRelay is the paid option that puts per-mailbox team webmail, a scoped HTTP API with signed webhooks, broadcasts and a template editor in one app, with one-click updates and email support.

Common questions

Is there a webmail for Cloudflare Email Routing?

Cloudflare itself provides none: Email Routing forwards mail or hands it to a Worker. Apps such as MarkRelay, Mailflare, cloud-mail, HQBase, OmniMail and agentic-inbox run that Worker in your account and give you a webmail on top.

What do all of these need from Cloudflare?

A domain on Cloudflare DNS, which the Free plan includes, and Email Routing to receive, which is free. Sending to any recipient through Cloudflare Email Sending needs the Workers Paid plan ($5/month, 3,000 emails included); some projects can send through Resend or Amazon SES instead.

Which one is free?

All of them except MarkRelay are free and open source, and you maintain them yourself. MarkRelay is licensed software with one-click updates and email support.

Which one is best for a team?

One that limits each person to their own mailboxes: MarkRelay, Mailflare, HQBase, OmniMail or cloud-mail. In agentic-inbox, everyone who passes its Access policy can open every mailbox.

Which ones have IMAP?

cloudflare_temp_email ships an SMTP and IMAP proxy, and heyflare can connect existing IMAP accounts. The others, MarkRelay included, are used in the browser and over HTTP APIs.
