Summary

SMTP2GO's free plan sends up to 1,000 emails a month, but it does not accept sign-ups from public addresses such as Gmail or Yahoo: you need an address on your own domain. Starter is $10 a month ($100 a year) for 10,000 emails, then $1 per 1,000; Professional is $75 ($750 a year) for 100,000 with a dedicated IP. Among free relays, Brevo allows more (300 a day). If your domain is on Cloudflare, Email Sending costs $5 a month with 3,000 emails included, and MarkRelay adds mailboxes and an API on top for $99 a year.

Free relays have different shapes

A daily cap and a monthly cap behave differently. Brevo's 300 a day suits steady traffic; SMTP2GO's 1,000 a month and Resend's 3,000 a month suit bursts, though Resend also caps at 100 a day. A password-reset spike or a small newsletter can use up a monthly allowance in a day.

Where MarkRelay fits

A good fit when

  • Your domain is on Cloudflare and the app should send and receive in your own account, with receiving free.
  • Mailboxes your team can open next to the API, and many domains without per-domain fees.

Look elsewhere when

  • A hosted relay with nothing to deploy, or a dedicated IP and sending SLA.
  • Very high volume where Amazon SES's per-email price matters most.
